A Dream in Autumn
Shooting this night scene at this location was actually not in our original plan. Our plan was to take pictures at the top of Nub Peak around sunset and get down to the hut as quickly as we could to avoid potential bear encounter. When we arrived at this location, we noted our companion hikers were still far behind, so while waiting for them we decided to take some shots. The first 30 seconds exposure really really surprised us. The sky was painted by the red clouds which were barely seen by our naked eyes. It was amazing and unbelievable with the outcome of the picture as it was already about 1 hr after sunset. I learned from this experience and ever since I start extending my sunset shooting hours from 0.5 hr after sunset to 1.5 hrs. Who knows what mother nature is doing? We better keep shooting!
